WAGR Weekend Europe 2023, organized by the International WAGR Syndrome Association, will take place from July 21 to July 23. Families from Europe and beyond will meet for this 3-day event in Overpelt, Belgium.

WAGR Weekend is an opportunity for families to learn more about WAGR-related research, receive an introduction about Aniridia Europe, and listen to speakers about WAGR-related topics like behavioral challenges. This weekend event is also a great opportunity for families to get together and talk about the joys and challenges of raising an individual with WAGR syndrome. In addition to educational activities, the main purpose of this weekend is for the families to feel connected and part of their international community. The WAGR journey, like navigating care for all rare diseases, is often a lonely road and there’s nothing better than to spend time together with others who share the similar journey.

For individuals not able to attend in person, the Family meeting on Saturday, July 22, will be live streamed through Zoom. Registration is free.

More information about the weekend is available at www.wagr.org/WW23.

Experiences from WAGR families about past WAGR Weekends:
“There is something magical about being in a room filled with people who get what you have been going through without ever having to say a word. It was no longer about explaining and more about sharing which I have always been thrilled to do.”

“For the first time in a while I felt like I innately belonged to this group of people. We were magically joined together by our amazing children. I was not an outsider looking in, nor was I in a fishbowl for others to examine. Even though I have never met any of the fellow WAGR families prior, those three days felt like home at heart.”
